Day 7: Cappadocia - Hacıbektaş-Kayseri-Ankara (320 km)

Then, we head to Hacıbektaş, a pilgrimage site for Alevi Muslims. The city takes its name from the 13th-century Sufi Haji Bektash Veli, who is considered the founder of the Bektashi order. Alevism, Bektashism, and Sufism view Ali as the Lion of God (Esedullah-Asadullah). Approximately one-fourth of Turkey's population is Alevi. Alevism is a branch of Shia Islam, with much less emphasis on laws and regulations and much more on respect for other people, regardless of their religion, race, origin, or gender. We visit the Haji Bektash Veli Tomb, tour the museum, and learn about the soft side of Islam.
